Wut Have U Seen, My Blue-Eyed Son?
I really dig this track by Nashville rapper Dennis Jay. The trappy, delicate production serves as a nice minimal backdrop to Jay's rhymes about dark things that he's seen and experienced on the streets, but the real power of the song explodes when vocals and a whining, high-pitched synth drop into the track's first hook: if you look in my eyes, you can see what I see. The overall sound is pretty unique and makes a strong impression. The theme of the song could almost be said to create a hip-hop companion piece to Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall," giving the listener glimpses of the things he's seen in his travels.
