It's a delight to listen to the first Austin band I've heard on Songladder since I moved here three weeks ago. Weary Old Soul is an interesting blend of (perhaps) house music, prog punk, and new wave...though none of these actually describe these guys. A bassy thump-thump powers the engine of the song while WOS' lead singer drawls in a Nine Inch Nails-esque distorted sneer, evoking imagery of the psychedelic roller coasters of life, and returning to the idea "...but I always seem to be amazed when the ride is done." Maybe it's just the song's theme, but it's easy enough to imagine a carnival barker singing this song in the middle of a Fear and Loathing style acid trip. Hold on tight, ladies and gentlemen. It's about to get weird.

"When the Ride is Done" would be an excellent theme song for

a gang fight

"When the Ride is Done" is reminiscent of well-known artists such as

NIN
