A slightly sinister 3/4 time signature gives "Speak" an interesting waltz-like feel, which it maintains even as it transitions from quiet to loud and back to quiet again. Eliot Hosenfeld's sound draws from gothic rock and nu metal, and a soft violin adds a nice, symphonic backdrop to the dominating piano and drums of the song. Female backup vocals are a nice addition as well, giving the piece an epic and dark quality that is sure to be well-received by any fans of Evanescence.

I would add "Speak" to a playlist called

Goth Rock

"Speak" is reminiscent of well-known artists such as

The Mars Volta, Evanescence
