"Beautiful" is a fitting name for this soulful song by Floridian Dave Alexander, combining a singer/songwriter narrative with the sweet sounds of Alt Country (slide guitars, steel strings, and some bluesy piano). Dave Alexander's voice might be what I'd call perfect-- containing melody, grit, soul, and humility all at once. This song is both sobering and intoxicating: sobering, in the sense that Alexander's words are reflective, honest, and wise. And intoxicating, in the sense that his unwavering romanticism and positivity removes us, even for just a moment, from the ugliness of life. This singer/songwriter is a true poet, and one that deserves some serious attention.
