The swell of the streets

A review of "Levitation" by B.A.S.I.C

A constant swelling and swirling group of synth tracks makes "Levitation" sound as if it were being performed in the center of a wind whirlpool, or some sort of mystical tornado. It's a nice effect. B.A.S.I.C. has a refreshingly positive collection of rhymes, criticizing mainstream thug culture with a nice blend of intelligence and street smarts. "Life is good, but it could be better/ so I count my blessings with endless endeavors/ cause Fame is prison, and ledge is forever/ and I want it all-- Levitation." This word, levitation, mixed with a soundscape filled with wind, makes B.A.S.I.C. sound like he is naturally rising in his life rather than battling his way to the top like a typical bloodied street tough.
