When I hit the play button on a song entitled "007" I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't this. RRCRecords are like a surreal fusion of Portishead and Son Lux, with stark and haunting musical ultra-minimalism, created entirely from the human voice. The track isn't recorded too well (sounds actually like it was done on GarageBand) but this isn't enough to turn me off from this enchanting and strange song. The lyrics are slow to form, like a blurry image gradually coming into focus, finally coagulating into discernible lines like "...on to the next one/ Hard to move on when you always regret one." Poetic and abstract, "007" is a brilliant bit of experimental ambient songwriting.

"007" would be an excellent theme song for

4am in the woods.

I would add "007" to a playlist called

Dark Vocal Magic

"007" is reminiscent of well-known artists such as

Son Lux
