Las Vegas' creatively named Jinxemgood and the FolknBlues Union does an interesting job of genre-blending in "Limbo," which begins with the unusual pulsing rhythm of a fiddle--no, not a fiddle, a VIOLIN-- and accompanying harmonies of a cello. This orchestral groundwork is joined by a more typical rhythmic and percussive acoustic guitar, and the melodic, dubby rap-like-singing of Jinxemgood's lead singer, in a way that reminds me of 90's bro-folk like Citizen Cope, Dispatch, or even Xavier Rudd. The lyrics are introspective and frustrated, a psychedelic mind trapped behind the walls of a more conventional prison. "Here I am stuck in limbo..." Of course, the band seems to identify themselves as a union of folk and blues, though I would argue that they are more of a PsyChamberFolk Union.

"Limbo" would be an excellent theme song for

Smoking a bowl.

The most impressive instrumental/vocal performance in this recording is

Cello...I love cello.
