"Shannon Song" is an odd-- but undeniably beautiful-- blend of...what...Soul and Experimental Folk (it's about the best I could come up with)? The soul, obviously, comes from the gentle, swinging synthesizer and drums. In fact, this initial sound almost tip-toes near the genre of "elevator music," or what you might listen to when Customer Service puts you on hold. However, I was surprised when a beautiful, clear, sweet violin entered the fray, giving power, voice, and direction to an otherwise thin song. There are no lyrics in "Shannon Song," just this sweet background ambient melody from Ilinois' Robert Bitte.
