Technical Dark Psy-Rock

“Substitune” is slow, dark, and technical; reminding me of the precision and accuracy of early psy-rock/art-rock bands like Tool. The drums pound, but take their time; the guitarist does the same. And the lyrics wail with the same apocalyptic sound of Maynard James Keenan. Interestingly enough, my research about these guys, a Boston project named Force Us To Stop, uncovered the following: "Being employed as a teacher at music schools doesn’t just provide you with income. It provides you with band mates. This is how Michael Alan Scrima runs Force Us To Stop. The days of a single, steady line-up functioning as a band are long gone. Each song by Force Us To Stop features different guitarists and bassists who happen to be fellow faculty members of Michael. Whoever among them are available for hire at the time of the recording or show get the job."

"Substitune" would be an excellent theme song for

Skinning a deer

The most impressive instrumental/vocal performance in this recording is

The lead guitar

"Substitune" is reminiscent of well-known artists such as
