This aggressive rapid-fast trap track takes a minute to properly sink down into, but once you're there, you're there. "Free" is essentially built out of a slowly thudding dubstep drum loop, rapper Aimee's lightning-quick rhymes, and the soulful spiritual wailing of the song's hook, crying out to the Lord for freedom. As it stands, "Free" feels like a natural evolution out of the Blues gospels of the old American South, utilizing modern inventions like hip-hop and digital beat-making, but otherwise preserving the essential spirit of the genre: namely, a bargaining with God. "Take my hand, Lord, take my heart. Use me as you please, I just wanna be free," rings out the intense and beautiful chorus, summarizing the confessional monologue being made from Aimee to her Savior.

"Free" would be an excellent theme song for

getting ready before a big game

I would add "Free" to a playlist called

Hip Hop & Blues
