ElectricButterKnife once again returns to SongLadder, this time with a slow, back porch, Americana ballad about Johnny Lee Miller. The song starts with some gorgeous string plucking, a nice, slow beat, and mouth harp, reminding me of some of the newer work of Old Crow Medicine Show. The vocals are sung in a deep Tennessee bass, a little offputting at first but easy enough to sink into after a minute. In the song, Johnny Lee Miller is a dominating and abusive husband that beats his wife and keeps her caged to her housewife duties, and her ensuing quest for emancipation.

I would add "Johnny Lee Miller" to a playlist called

Southern Sin

The most impressive instrumental/vocal performance in this recording is

Steelstring Guitar
