Punk Wop
Garage Rock Revival? No, not quite. It's more like...doo-wop meets punk. I'm not even sure what to call it, though the spirit of the twist n' shout generation definitely moves through this home-cooked, raw track from Dain Norman, out of Puyallup, WA. It sounds like the song was recorded in Norman's living room, and he almost screams the lyrics in a John McCauley-esque whine (of Deer Tick). His song, though, is delightfully sweet. "Be my baby, my only baby," echoes the refrain, in a sort of 50's flashback, backed by some homemade percussion that makes you want to tap your toes and clap your hands.
