Nocturnal Groove Rock
From St. Louis, MO, Various Hands deliver a funky, jazzy, Latin-esque blues-rock tune (none of these genres are a perfect descriptor, but it lies somewhere around here) in "Blame It On The Night." There is a wonderful conversation going on between the drums, the guitar and bass, and the vocals, which creates polyrhythmic grooves that make you want to tap your feet. The Raconteurs' "Steady As She Goes" comes vaguely to mind, as well as some of the classic rockers from the Steely Dan era. I love the changeover from the minor -keyed verses into the major-keyed chorus.
