A review of "CORTEZ" by GOULASH

GOULASH has released a solid, dubby throwback to the 90's LBC ska/punk era in their new single “CORTEZ.” Lead singer Gordon Johnson channels an almost uncanny resurrection of Sublime's Bradley Nowell, and the band's reggae foundation with distorted guitar overlays lends itself to an even greater comparison. Interestingly enough, GOULASH hails from the landlocked, northern metropolis of St. Paul, MN, testament to the power of globalization and the rising popularity of reggae and ska worldwide. Their bio states that "in a genre of music that usually is all about love and unity, GOULASH separates themselves by staying true their inner city upbringing, telling urban tales of survival of the fittest. That, along with punk rock energy and a great sense of humor, GOULASH is a must see for anyone who enjoys getting their asses kicked." CORTEZ is a well-written, well-produced, and overall well-made track, and would be a great addition to any summer playlist.

"CORTEZ" would be an excellent theme song for

A beachside BBQ

I would add "CORTEZ" to a playlist called

Summer Sun

"CORTEZ" is reminiscent of well-known artists such as

Sublime
