Lo-Fi Alt Country
Opening with the lo-fi sound of a band recording in a bedroom, "29 Road" has a warm and sincere feeling delivered by nothing more than a bass guitar, a banjo, a mandolin, and a Americana Western lead singer (as far as I can tell). Just Another Station, from Denver, does not aim to blow us away with technical bluegrass solos or rapid-fire string picking. None of them are exceptionally skilled on their instruments. Rather, they simply offer us a musical throwback that meshes with itself, and works. The lyrics and tune are spot on, a song filled with visions of old houses and rural America. "I hope you never lose direction from the place you call your home."
