A certain subculture of hipsters will inevitably fall for "Laura Sorays," for the novelty if nothing else. The Italian rock band Marco & the Sysma have created a bizarre indie rock ballad pulling on elements of vintage American sounds like garage rock and surf rock, albeit with heavily accented lyrics, calling to mind some strange combination of Gogol Bordello and the Japanese surf chicks The 5.6.7.8's. To me, this song ultimately creates a happy appreciation for the remarkable legacy of American punk rock music, and the towering waves it created as it spread across the planet in the last several decades.
