An easy-going island beat wrapped inside the security of 90's pop forms a solid groove in "Tidal Wave," augmented even further with some funky horns and mean guitar solos in the background. The singer's lyrics are fine enough and his voice is good, though I tend to think he could be mixed down a little more in exchange for the instruments being pulled up in places. I don't think that the lyrics are necessarily what carry this song...it's the chill, laid-back vibe as a whole.
