"I'm Quitting Dope Next Month" is a funny, fun-spirited Country/Western ditty about (surprise, surprise), quitting dope...next month. Dick Deluxe playfully paints a picture of his marijuana habits since "Nixon was president" and outlines his reasons and his plans to stop smoking the stuff, with a talking-blues style and a fastpaced, honky-tonk instrumentation behind. It seems like there's a possible implied joke by setting his timeline as "next month," making me wonder if he's really going to do it, or if he simply has gone around telling people that "next month is the month, I swear" for decades now.

"Im Quitting Dope Next Month" would be an excellent theme song for

Austin, TX

The most impressive instrumental/vocal performance in this recording is

the accordion
