A dubby beat characterized by upstroke guitar chords, dynamic jamband drums, and bass makes "My Own Path" sound almost like a jamband song, though the heavy, legato, sonically dark tone of the singer's vocals are a disparity from the typically bright, light sound of most jamband lead singers (defined by Jerry Garcia and Trey Anastasio). In fact, the singer reminds me of, of all people, U2's Bono, and bears a certain resemblance to "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." This makes the song unique, which I love, and all in all is a successful bit of songwriting and great track to put on if you're driving around in nice weather.
