A review of "No Sister" by Yassin Philip

French producer Yassin Phillip has created an absolutely dynamite blend of vocoder samples, tribal-influenced drum tracks, and noisy synthesizer in this midtempo dance number. If you like experimental House, this is definitely gonna have you tapping your toes, if not straight up dancing in your chair. The song waxes and wanes in a perpetual, psychedelic, electronic squeeze, while the steady thump-thump of the kick drum holds it down in the background. I'm guessing that Phillip would list fellow French producers Daft Punk as an influence, but then again, what self-respecting beatmaker wouldn't. Still, Daft Punk is about the only other group I can think of that employs so much noise and makes it all sound so good.
