Funky warm basslines weave together to create a complex bit of future downtempo in "Summer Heat" from artist Wanetah. The song has much of the slow sexy power of West Coast bass producer Phutureprimitive, overlaced with dark female vocals reminding me in equal parts of Lana del Ray and Florence + the Machine. The production is absolutely masterful on this track, implementing the nearly perfect usage of vocal effects, instrumentation, and beat. Occasionally, the rhythm slips just a hair here or there--or perhaps it is something just a bit unbalanced in the mixing. But all in all, Wanetah has made a sound that deserves radio play, and/or deserves to be headlining major stages at summer music festivals.
"Summer Heat" would be an excellent theme song for sex
