Hip-hop, electro, and rock combine to explosive effect in "Get Live," a new track from The Cloudz. This Portland-based group raps over a tight drummer and fun bubbling of funky effected bleeps and bloops, along with one or two guitar solos. I could see these guys rocking a house party at 2am...a crowded, exuberant audience smashed together with their hands in the air. The high-vibe lyrics are clever, fun, and dextrous, and belong in the "conscious hip hop" subcategory that seeks to take their music out of the misogyny and aggression of mainstream rap. This is a great song to get down to.
