Easy Listening Back Porch Feel Good Music
"Kiss Another Frog" holds both the easy simplicity of country-western Americana, as well as the tender, intellectual poetry of singer-songwriter folk music; giving it a very pleasant quality reminiscent of old greats like Simon & Garfunkel. The rhythm section is entirely composed of a simple hand shaker-- which is neither too little nor too much-- and the rest of the instruments pluck their way across each familiar chord with the patience of an old man sitting on his back porch. "Cinderella's dressed up for the ball/ how many times, she can't recall/ in satin and in lace, with a blushing smile upon her face/ and that handsome prince never shows at all." The song seems to be about the false delusions of the young and romantic, and reflecting back on that hotblooded silliness with the gentle wisdom of old age. I love the lead singer's voice; its got all the qualities that a folk singer should have. Gentleness, ease, and wisdom.
