Dane Love seems to channel the spirit of his native Hawaii in "Truth," an easygoing and laid back song blending some classic island sounds with pop and jazz. The notable moments are when it switches from an upstroke dubby beat (downbeat on the two and four) to either a Spanish flamenco (the downbeat coming only on the four) or a doubled 4/4 swing. For a song with some very simple One Tribe, One Love kinds of lyrics, the musical complexity of the songwriting is a refreshing change. Additionally, Love has a smooth and melodic voice that carries the song well, a bit like Jack Johnson.

"Truth" would be an excellent theme song for
