Digital Emotional Soundscaping
This song unfolds with a near perfect utilization of synth-heavy, minimalist dubstep production, touching lightly on the pacing of trap music (the kinds of tracks that you want to put on when you're cruising around a city in a nice car), and the samples and sounds of Daft Punk (tight, non-abrasive digital instruments with a hint of the disco days). A third of the way into the song, "Emotions" deftly changes gears and moves into a meditative soundscape that would be a good fit for the final minutes of a yoga class. The samples stay roughly the same, but the tone of the music shifts, and is even accompanied by a faint sampled speech by an unknown orator. His words are hard to make out, but the mood is undeniably calming and uplifting. Next, in the last phase of the song, the tempo upshifts into a house-y, weird, and fun dance track, followed by a final return to the same dubstep that began the track. Again, the samples stay the same, which is further indication of Sean F's genius.
