A slightly rough and janky recording ultimately serves the dark rock ballad "Absence of Light," a song that dances near a half dozen goth-rock clichés but ultimately holds it own due to a rich and dynamic sound, powerful rhythm guitar, and well-mixed wailing lead vocals. The SeeDz, from Scottsville Virginia, successfully embrace the rough, you-can-fuck-right-off Garage Rock sound that I used to worship back in middle school and high school. The song journeys across a nice spectrum of low and high energy, and if this band stays together and keeps working hard, they will undoubtedly be making some seriously great tunes in a few years.

"Absence of Light" is reminiscent of well-known artists such as
