"Breathe Thru Me" is a clever and stylish Christian new wave song; memorable mostly for the cinematic and pulsing drive of its digital melody. The drums and synth sound full, rich, and sleek, and will have most fans of hip-hop and EDM nodding their heads to its tightly constructed beat. Go figure. Something about the vocals is mixed wrong, though...and I'm not sure that I have enough technical know-how to say what it is exactly. It sounds like the singer is mixed too high, and so her voice has a slightly abrasive presence that wails in your ear, drowning out some of the beauty, power, and rhythm of the background production. It doesn't help that she sings slightly flat at times, too. I think much could be gained by mixing the vocals down, adding some cool, subtle effects to them, and possibly even doubling up the tracks. It's safe to say, though, that the songwriting works well with the underlying composition and could make for a very catchy song. The bilingual lyrics are also a cool touch.
