A review of "Shake The Nation" by Danny Redbone

I'm sure Danny Redbone will roll his eyes when he reads this, but I had the sudden thought that "Shake the Nation" sounds like what would happen if Tom Petty and the Arcade Fire had a baby. Yeah, I know...weird. But the song has the power-ballad chord progression of late 80's biker music, mixed with the ambient reverb of later indie music. And it works, for the most part. Some of the drum beats get shaky in places, and isn't always squared off with the guitar (it can be harder to stay on beat with a slower tempo like this). But in general, "Shake the Nation" has a cool rock n' roll vibe with a nice effect.
