The opening might sound exactly like Modest Mouse's "Float On" was slowed down and sent through a Flanger, but "Chardonnay" is ultimately a pretty cool song with minimal instrumentation (mostly just repeating drum and guitar lines) that get stuck in your head easily, a sexy male falsetto with hints of RnB, and dreamy background harmonies. Pross' main vocal melody could afford to be just a smidgeon more dialed in, but the structure of the song is solid and uses the logic of pop music quite well. And I love the lyrics (much more than I love chardonnay itself!). "Aderol and marijuana, makes me say that I wanna/ go down in history tonight."

"Chardonnay" will be stuck in my head because

That guitar lick!
