Acoustic Dreams
Wisconsin singer/songwriter Jack Ritchie's easy voice and guitar will wash over you like a warm breeze, overlapping a bit with dreamy acoustic-pop musicians like Alexi Murdoch and John Mayer, but with a fresher and more raw sound. His lyrics are both simple and complex, a reversal of the 6-bar blues model with the second line repeated (instead of the first), and revealing little snippets of poetry. It's as if he were sketching out his subject matter in pencil, rather than fully painting her on a canvas, giving you the soft and rough outlines of his mind rather than a full reveal. I can imagine enjoying seeing Ritchie in a late night coffee shop or bar, casting a spell over his silent audience in a dim light.
