I’m not a big heavy metal listener, but I appreciate the breadth of “Misunderstood,” which begins with the savage and somewhat psychotic drive of 90s metal bands like Metallica or even Primus, and moves into an anthem rock chorus that suddenly feels like Queen, Bowie, or Styx. Phil Braun packs plenty of power into his sound, featuring some savage distorted guitars, vocal lines harmonizing in octaves, and some nonstop technical drum fills pushing the song from the rear. They rip, they shred, they thrash. Pretty good stuff.

I would add "Misunderstood" to a playlist called

Metal Monday
