A Beatles Tribute, of sorts
This song cleverly pulls from the sounds of several Beatles songs, such as Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, as well as a few other 60s-era British pop-rockers . "Extraordinary Day" sounds like it belongs in a Wes Anderson movie, with a wonderful blend of keys and effected vocals, and even some happy horn riffs in the back that sound distinctly Beatles-esque (in fact, the verses each end with the line "if John Lennon was alive today"). The song delivers a warm and happy feeling in that characteristically British way, despite the fact that songwriter "Andrew" hails from Doylestown, PA. In the art of mimicry, Andrew seems to be wonderfully successful, and this song will instantly will find its way into the heart of anyone who misses the bygone days of pop music. I'm curious to hear if all his songs maintain this nostalgic quality, or if this was simply a concept he needed to explore once.
