“Spare the apologies, and fire that smoking gun/No great disparity, just one more witch to hunt” ends the slightly unnerving refrain in Optimus’ Rex “Witch Hunt.” The song begins with technical guitar and driving snare hits, making one think it is attempting to find a home in dark goth rock. However, the song has a bright beauty to it, blossoming in the finale into an almost symphonic anthem of harmonic vocals and blindingly angelic chords, calling to mind the Arcade Fire, the Polyphonic Spree, or even Sigur Ros. It is not always easy to understand Optimus Rex' lyrics, but they are certainly intriguing, and quite enigmatic. I think this is certainly a band worth paying attention to.

I would add "Witch Hunt" to a playlist called
