21st Century G-Funk
The production on Fuquan Maleeck's "Talking Big" takes me right back to one of my favorite hip-hop albums of all time, 1993's Doggystyle, which was produced mostly by Dr. Dre and introducing the G-Funk sound to the world for the first time. The funky clap track, fat bassline, and wailing synth--coming straight out of the Funkadelic era--make it impossible not to dance to this hip track about wielding an ego like a weapon. "I'm feelin' cocky baby, cause I been rockin' lately" are the kind of lyrics prevalent in this song from beginning to end, featuring a few different vocal styles...it's hard to tell if its different rappers or just different performances from the same. Either way, this track is a fun and funky joint for all the Snoop fans out there.
