There's something like a Nirvana meets Soundgarden type of quality to the opening instrumentals in Aunt Stella's Ashes track “Shades of Gray”. Either way it's music that will pleasure the ears of those with a taste for rock. Aunt Stella's Ashes seems to take aspects from different parts of the rock branch, from some classic sounding riffs to a modern mashup of hard metal rock and “regular” rock they are certainly making their own type of music. The slight rasp delivery of the lead singer's lyrics make for an interesting combo as the style is one that would work just as well for death metal. In fact the delivery is very close to that of Creed's Scott Stapp. Regardless, “Shades of Gray” rocks hard and it wouldn't be a surprise if you were to catch this band on one of the iHeartRadio channels one of these days.
