Mixing different genres may not have been the goal of Wes McCrary Band but it's hard to look passed the fact that “You're Gone” has the sound of a 1990 rock track mixed with the vocals that sound like they are taken right out of a classic country track. “You're Gone” melody sounds like something that R.E.M. might produce but instead of the lyrics being sung by frontman Michael Stipe you have a vocalist who sounds like a mix of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Chris Isaak. It's a nice calm track backed with beautifully crafted music especially when you get into the guitar solo which has a Spanish vibe to it. Wes McCrary Band is a group that clearly knows how to compose music especially if you're looking for easy listening. If there is only one downside of “You're Gone” it's that the vocals along with the backing vocals could be a bit louder so one could enjoy and decipher the lyrics better.
