Being Broken Never Sounded So Good
Sometimes when it comes to music, simplicity is the best route to take as Jim Shaffer's “Broken” shows. The guitar fueled track opens up to beautiful string play that could have honestly taken up the entire song without any complaints but it is when Shaffer opens his mouth that you realize how good “Broken” is. Shaffer is somewhere between Johnny Cash and George Strait in this one. His voice is smooth like honey and is definitely pleasing on the ears. The accompanying female vocals only make the performance better not that it is ever lacking. While the track may be titled “Broken” there is a warmness that permeates throughout that any sense of melancholy doesn't put a damper on the song itself. “Broken” is a beautiful track balancing the lines of rock and country for something truly wonderful.
