SongLadder doesn't have an abundant amount of R&B songs so listeners looking for the genre here might find themselves satisfied with Yvonne's “Before You Go”. It is a standard R&B track channeling the sounds of Toni Braxton, Kelly Price and Faith Evans as opposed to the more recent acts you might hear on the radio. “Before You Go” follows the expected 90s protocol focusing on love and addressing issues arising in the singer's relationship. The verses are a little lacking as Yvonne tends to repeat the same lines for the first half of the song as she pleads with her lover to stay. The beat is produced nicely but unfortunately it overshadows Yvonne without even trying. Vocals and beat don't mesh too well and seem to be recorded in two separate areas, as the vocals fall flat from having that studio quality you'd expect from this genre.
