Here at SongLadder there isn't an abundance of jazz submissions let alone pure jazz so Forbidden Craft's addition to the site is a nice breath of fresh air. “Shakana” can only be described best by one word and that's “masterful”. Those who are familiar with jazz or are an avid listener to the genre will know that Forbidden Craft is doing the genre justice and then some. “Shakana” sounds like something right out of the 1940s and 1950s. Forbidden Craft is the type of artist that could have surely been hailed among some of the greatest including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker and Sonny Rollins had he been on the scene. Just one listen makes it obvious that a live performance at a nice low lit jazz club would be a pleasure but until then the high quality production of “Shakana” can suffice as it is sure to satisfy the needs of all jazz connoisseurs. Forbidden Craft doesn't just deserve a full listen but at least five so you can enjoy the beautiful sounds coming through your speakers.
